Controlled Human Infection Challenge Studies involve the deliberate infection of healthy volunteers to support clinical vaccine development, These studies have been successfully conducted in the past, for example for malaria. This webinar will discuss:

– ethical and scientific principles for such studies

– outline the risk mitigation steps taken in previous malaria human challenge studies

– explore how this might be applied in the context of COVID-19 vaccine development

– and allow discussion of ethical and practical concerns

A collaboration between Pharmacometrics Africa, Fundisa African Academy of Medicines Development and the COVID-19 Clinical Research Coalition, this webinar features experts from around the world with direct experience in challenge studies. At the end of the session, we will open up a brief Q&A session.
